KCB Bank Tanzania Officials and the Hon. Minister of Education, Science, and Technology, Prof. Adolf Mkenda, held talks with the aim of exploring areas of collaboration in support of the community, especially in KCB’s 2jiajiri project to support 5,000 youth through skills development and self-employment in the country. The support is provided under the KCB 2jiajiri program, which seeks to upskill youth in curbing unemployment challenges in the country whilst promoting self-employment.
The meeting held in Dodoma on September 14 witnessed the two parties agreeing on some areas for potential partnership and collaboration.
The Minister of Education, Prof. Adolf Mkenda expressed his commitment to supporting education transformation in the country and commended KCB Bank for the sustainable initiative that is transforming the lives of many.
The 5,000-youth program under KCB Bank Tanzania will support skills development for the beneficiaries through vocational training under VETA, SIDO and FDC in six regions as well as Zanzibar (Unguja and Pemba).
The Hon. Minister of Education said the Ministry will see how to support the program so that it delivers the intended outcome in a bigger scale.
The Permanent Secretary, Prof. Carolyne Nombo affirmed on the Ministry’s commitment to support the initiative on a number of aspects that would ensure the program is well executed.
He further commended KCB Bank for coming up with the said program, which is transforming youth lives through increased employability in the country.
Youth account for 34% of the total population in Tanzania (2022 Census); hence, investing in this group remains critical for achieving national development plans.
"We thank the Ministry for their commitment towards this initiative that is vital for country’s development. KCB Bank remains committed to supporting our people, especially youth, to increase employability and improve their income," said Christine Manyenye, the Head of Marketing and Corporate Affairs at KCB Bank Tanzania.
The KCB 2jiajiri program is a community investment initiative that was established in 2016 and has so far supported 1,579 Tanzanians by giving them the necessary skills that foster enterprise development. Now the Bank is set to support 5000 more.
