On Saturday, August 3, 2024, the KCB East Africa Golf Tour 2024 officially kicked off at Lugalo Golf Club in Tanzania. The event was led with great enthusiasm by KCB Group CEO Paul Russo, Group Regional Businesses Director and KCB Bank Tanzania Managing Director Cosmas Kimario, and Retired Brigadier General Michael Luwongo, the Chairman of Lugalo Golf Club. Top golfers from across Tanzania gathered to demonstrate their skills and vie for the prestigious chance to represent the country in the grand finale in Kenya.
The competition was intense, with each golfer bringing their best to the lush greens. The stakes were high, as the winning team would not only receive sponsorship from KCB Bank Tanzania to participate in the grand finale in Nairobi Kenya, on 6th December 2024, but also have a chance to win a grand prize of 1 million KES, equivalent to nearly 20 million TZS. This prospect added an extra layer of excitement and determination to the tournament.
Additionally, the tournament provided a platform for junior golfers to demonstrate their skills and passion for the sport, challenging the common perception that golf is solely a sport for adults. This initiative underscored KCB Bank’s commitment to fostering talent and encouraging diversity within the sport.
